Meet Jamie, Nursing major
It has always been my dream to help people. I have worked in healthcare for more than 10 years and always knew I wanted to be a nurse eventually. I chose to attend Alverno because I had friends in the nursing program, and they spoke highly of the school.
Coming to Alverno is making my dream become a reality. I am participating in my clinical internship at St. Luke's Hospital on the neurological surgery floor. This position gives me experience working with patients who have had a stroke or who need spinal or brain surgery. It has been a very informative and rewarding experience.
In addition to my internship, I work at an assisted living facility in Pewaukee. This has provided me with valuable healthcare experience and made it possible for me to further my education. I am also excited to have been inducted into the Sigma honor society of nursing. In the future, I would like to complete the doctorate of nursing practice program at Alverno. My career goal is to become a family nurse practitioner.
Alverno has pushed me to get out of my comfort zone, which shows in all aspects of my life. I am so grateful for my education and for the scholarship that I
have received. When I graduate I will be the first person in my family to earn a college degree. Thank you for helping me make that possible!
